A mini guide to Skiathos, Greece

Skiathos is one of the many beautiful Greek islands. The island has over 60 beaches which make it a great place for relaxation.

My time on Skiathos consisted largely of relaxing on many of the beaches. Some of the beaches are not easy accessible by car, but there are boat trips going around the island every day, visiting a lot of pretty beaches. Like for example the beach Lalaria, famous for its cave. Though I have to say that my favorite beach was Koukounaries. By bus this beach is at the last bus stop. The small island only has one paved road, and therefore only 26 bus stops.

As a food enthusiast Greece is always fun. I even found some great bakeries on this island. Skiathos offers a lot of different restaurants. Lo&La, a restaurant mixing both Italian and Greek cuisine was the best restaurant I visited. Not only was the food and service great, but the view overlooking the harbor was amazing. If you ever go I would definitely recommend trying the deep-fried feta cheese with honey as a starter. We had to go back three times just to have the starter again.
If you want romantic views while dining, The Final Step is also a great restaurant. This is an English owned restaurant which offers gourmet food. Skiathos town has a lot of cute narrow streets, this is where you will find many greek tavernas. 1901 is a great greek restaurant located in one of the narrow streets. The lamb and moussaka are especially good here.

Skiathos has a lot of hotels. We chose to live in a small hotel with only eight rooms, called Billy’s House in Skiathos town. It felt like we were living in a Greek home with dogs, cats, hens and goats surrounding us. Which was amazing!

With over 60 beaches, boat trips to other islands, an outdoor cinema showing Mamma Mia, great restaurants and great people Skiathos is definitely one of my favorite Greek islands.
