Weekend breakfast – French toast

There is nothing like a sweet and savory breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. French toast with bacon and maple syrup is the perfect combination.

I first tasted French toast with bacon in Cape Town, South Africa, and I was completely amazed with how good sweet and savory is together. In Norway we call French toast “Arme riddere” which means poor knights.

This is definitely the best way to start your Saturday or Sunday, especially if you make enough for your family or friends.

Enjoy.

This batter is enough to make French toast out of at least 10 thick slices of bread.

  • ½ tsp vanilla powder
  • Butter
  • Maple Syrup
  • Banana
  • Bacon

  2. Dip slices of bread in the mix on each side and cook in a heated pan with butter.

  5. If you like the taste of bacon I would also recommend using the leftover fat from the bacon to cook the French toast in.
